The Oxford Symposium on Employee Ownership is a global gathering of leaders, stakeholders, and government decision-makers in the field of employee ownership.
This unique annual event at Oxford University in the UK – which this year is on from 6th to 8th August – serves to explore major issues and obstacles to participatory employee ownership with the ambition to incubate ideas and policies to advance employee owned business models worldwide.
The event focusses on topics such as the financial and regulatory barriers to the formation of employee owned firms in all their shapes and sizes in the many countries around the world where employee ownership is growing and receiving renewed interest.
Early employee ownership adopter, Australia will be participating in this forum.
Prof Andrew Pendleton (UniNSW), a member of the EOA’s Board, will be participating in the conference, and reporting on the state of employee ownership in Australia.
One of those invited from Australia was Anna Booth, Australia’s “Fair Work Ombudsman”. While she cannot attend, she has provided the following letter of support to be tabled at the symposium. This letter reflects much that – through her longstanding interests – she has brought to both employee ownership and fair work over the years and welcomes the ongoing dialogue about how to improve both in quality and scale in the future.
This letter – with the support of Employee Ownership Australia – is attached below as it considers our efforts to grow employee ownership in Australia and – in so doing – how it will improve the foundations for fair work and employee well-being in our dynamic economy.
The Oxford Symposium on Employee Ownership is organised and led by Jim Bonham (Employee Ownership Foundation), John Hoffmire and Graeme Nuttall OBE.
Graeme Nuttall is the Ambassador of Employee Ownership Australia.
