2019 Conference Review w/ EOA Chair Ben Morris

Dear EOA Supporter,

It’s hard to believe that another conference is done and dusted!

Awards Recap

First off, a huge congratulations to our deserving Award Winners for 2019 – Coles, Make Architects, AMP, GHD Group, Aristocrat and Independence Group.

It was quite remarkable to hear about the innovation, passion and hard work that has gone into making your employee share schemes so successful.

Former Chair and retiring EOA Director Angela Perry also took home the inaugural Chairman’s Award for Outstanding Service in Championing Employee Ownership in Australia. It goes without saying that EOA is what it is today because of Angela’s tireless work and dedication. On behalf of all the EOA Directors, Experts and Members – thank you.

Conference Recap

This years’ conference really was a stand out, with some terrific presentations and panel discussions held throughout the day. A big thanks to everyone that spoke! Great to see such an impressive attendee list too, which ensured lots of great discussions and lots of networking.

We’ve had a number of requests to share Andrew Pendleton’s Keynote – you can revisit Andrew’s fantastic presentation by clicking here.

From my own observations (and from feedback we have received to date) the level of discussion across the various sessions was particularly valuable this year. This is testament to the expertise and passion of the people in the room – the depth and breadth of talent in attendance was staggering.

EOA Member and 2019 Panelist Amit Majumder has put together a comprehensive review of this years event. I highly recommend you take a moment to read his thoughts and key takeaways from the days activities. You can read his recap by clicking here.

Conference Announcements

We announced at the conference that EOA will be publishing a White Paper later this year. The insights from this years event will play a key role in informing the content of the White Paper as well helping to shape EOA’s advocacy work in the future.

We also announced that we will be rebooting the Companies Inner Circle, and already have some terrific people who are keen to get involved. This is a forum that EOA used to bring together and we are bringing it back by popular demand!

As part of the reboot, our first job will be to work with willing participants to define what it might look like (who, how often, purpose etc). I certainly used to find it a very valuable forum for bringing together like-minded professionals. It’s a great way to get involved, build networks, and leverage the group to solve challenges. If you would be interested in getting involved, please email info@employeeownership.com.au and we’ll be in touch.

Lastly, thank you again to all those who attended and made this years’ conference such a success.

All the best,

Ben Morris

EOA Chair
