The report from the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Tax and Revenue on employee ownership includes a comprehensive and sensible series of recommendations to promote employee ownership in Australia.

Employee Ownership Australia (EOA) strongly supports the recommendations of the committee.

Importantly the recommendations deal with not only technical modifications but also the expansion of the scope of the regime.

It also recognises the importance of an expanded role of the tax office and the productivity commission in the promotion of forms of employee ownership.

We are particularly pleased with the specific recommendation for the productivity commission to examine how the use of employee ownership trusts of the kind used in the UK can expanded.

EOA looks forward to continue working to promote employee ownership.
